Daniel was born and raised in Troy, Alabama. He attended Troy University, where he studied Spanish and met his wife, Courtney. They married in 2009 and moved to Birmingham, where Daniel earned a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School in 2014. Following this, he began serving as the assistant pastor at Grace Presbyterian Church in Fort Payne, Alabama, mainly working with middle-school and high-school students.
Daniel then began working with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at Jacksonville State University. RUF is a college ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America dedicated to the cultivation of a Christ-centered community on the campus. RUF endeavors to be a ministry where students can find good community, ask good questions, and hear good news.
Daniel and Courtney have four children: Naomi (4/2013), twins Rebekah and Cole (1/2016), and Sam (3/2020), plus Jack, the dog. The Hightowers are excited to be ministering to the Jacksonville State students.
