Thanksgiving Service

Join us on Sunday, November 17, 5:00-7:00 p.m. for our annual Thanksgiving service. Keep reading for specific details on where to go, what to bring, and how the evening will flow.
We have several serving needs for chair and table set up, decorations, food line helpers, and clean up. Please sign up here to help set up your room assignment.
How will our service be structured?
This year will be very similar to last year’s Thanksgiving Service. We will start in various rooms throughout the church. KCs are grouped together, and each KC grouping will gather in an assigned area for supper and the majority of the service.
At 6:45 p.m., all KCs will be dismissed to gather in the Sanctuary to celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.
As in other years, our service will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. with a Welcome, Call to Worship, and a song. We will then serve food, eat together, and share stories of thanksgiving. See below for the full service schedule.
Will there be child care?
Nursery (infants through age 4) will be available for the whole service. Pizza will be provided for children in the nursery, or parents may pack and send a dinner. We ask that parents do not make plates in the food lines for nursery children.

What if I don’t have a KC?

What do I need to bring?
- If your last name begins with the letter A-O, bring a homemade side (enough to serve 12 people) to be served alongside the BBQ and chicken fingers that the church is providing.
- If your last name begins with P-Z, bring a homemade dessert (enough to serve 12).
What should I bring my food item in? Do I need to bring serving utensils as well?
Bring all food items in a disposable dish with disposable serving utensils. In order to make sure none of your items are lost and to help us in serving, we’re asking everyone to bring and serve food with disposable items. If your items are not disposable, please make sure that your name is on the dish.
Where should I bring my food on Sunday night?
Bring your food to your assigned room. There will be volunteers there to direct you where to put it.
Can I reheat my food at the church?
No. We have limited oven capacity; please bring your food ready to eat.
What about parking?
Senior/Accessible and Nursery parking: Main Campus
Everyone else: park at Jeff State. Shuttle service will be provided.
What is the full schedule for the evening?
5:00 – Service begins via Livestream. We will start at tables without food.
5:10 – Eat and a time for sharing, with testimonies and/or prayers of gratitude.
6:15 – Livestream begins again; Jason will read scripture and give a brief homily.
6:45 – Everyone walks to the Sanctuary to sing and celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.
6:50 – Celebrate the Lord’s Supper together in the sanctuary.
7:00 – Benediction and dismissal; return to KC rooms for clean up.
