Alex and Maggie have always seen God’s sovereign hand guiding them toward a life of full-time missionary service. Through short-term mission trips, upbringings with parents who loved the gospel, and churches that preached the importance of missions, God grew their desire for overseas missions. Alex and Maggie first spent five years serving in Stellenbosch, South Africa, with a Christian leadership development ministry. Their efforts were dedicated to discipling and multiplying spiritually mature and biblically knowledgeable Christian servants.
During this time in South Africa, the Lord continually grew the Halberts’ desire to serve more closely alongside a church-planting team. They then transitioned to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where Alex spent the first 12 years of his life. Alex’s role is overseeing internships, leading short-term teams, and building relationships with ministries that are already doing good work in the city. He also serves the church in diaconal roles and assists with administrative duties. Additionally, Alex and Maggie see the value of genuine hospitality. They look to serve the church plant by inviting people into their home and investing in the lives of those around them with the generosity of their time and space.
Alex and Maggie have four children: Emma Kate (9/2015), William (6/2016), Warren (2/2019), and Wallace (4/2021).
